This album features two virtually unknown bluesmen, one discovered in Humboldt, Tennessee, in 1976, and the other in Flora, Mississippi, in 1978. Cary Tate, who died suddenly in 1977, gives us a glimpse into traditional southwestern Tennessee blues, while Alonzo Burks provides renditions of several Mississippi country blues standards (along with a spiritual). All tracks were digitally remastered from the original tapes in 2013. Editorial assistance by Corey Wetherington, Penn State University.
